Azadeh Ghuchani, a Ph.D. student in biomedical engineering, took first place in the 5th three-minute national thesis competition.
The purpose of her research project was to provide a quantitative and bio-mechanical criterion for identifying patients who have a high probability of fracture risk so that those patients could be identified before surgery and take predictive measures and use the right methods of reconstructing the cavity left by emptying tumor during surgery.
It should be mentioned that parts of this study’s results have been published in the creditable journal of Scientific Reports from Nature Publications. Also, one of the articles was presented as a result of this project in the International Society of Bio-mechanics Conference (ISB / ASB 2019) in the top short articles, and was nominated for the David Winter Young Investigator Award by the International Bio-Mechanics Association.
Dr. Seyyed Mahmud Mesbahnameini, a faculty member of Civil Engineering at AUT, who was one of the participants in the Three Minute International Thesis at the University of Queensland, Australia in 2008, was present as a judge in this national competitions.
